Fired
When Steve Jobs got fired from Apple, he hit rock bottom.
The company he founded 10 years earlier was more than just a seed at this point, a 2 billion dollar enterprise with over 4,000 employees. But being booted by the very man he hired, ex-Pepsi frontman John Sculley, Steve lost his job.
Little did he know that he would enter the 5 most creative years of his life, starting a new computer company called NeXT, movie studio Pixar, as well meeting the love of his life, Lauren.
His first brain child even ended up acquiring NeXT, marking the return and renaissance of Steve Jobs at Apple. As they say, the rest is history.
Later, he said about getting fired: βI didnβt see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.β
Whether you get fired or call it quits, consider it might just be a gift.
